Olive Press

The Olive Press is a community development project specialising in vocational training, non-formal education and rural enterprise incubation.

This unique facility comprises event and co-working spaces, classroom, kitchen and cafe, media and IT studio and makerspace, located in close proximity to our Moria Museum and Wild Olive developments.

As we seek to build momentum towards this exciting vision, Moria Academy is running a series of educational pilot projects based in our Olive Press facility in 2022 and 2023:

  • Regular classes in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics for local Greek and refugee youth.

  • A comprehensive training in food preparation and service led by an experienced local restauranteur.

  • A multi-disciplinary trade school teaching carpentry, metalwork and sewing.

  • A coding school offering evening classes for beginners and intensive bootcamps for aspiring professionals.

  • From basic training in fruit-picking to a comprehensive course in sustainable olive grove management.

  • A certified 108 hour course in renewable energy production for refugees with asylum status. To be developed in partnership with Electra Energy.

  • Regular Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) classes for refugees, plus local Greeks.
